back to work
And they say, "Back to School." How about, "Back to Work!" Not that summers slow down as much anymore at my job as they used to years ago... but normally that's the time when people are off work more often and the days are longer and the sunlight inspires you in different ways.... beach/pool, road trips, street fairs, skydiving... what have you. Now Fall is around the corner which only means that soon it will be winter. I can feel my seasonal depression s l o w l y creeping up to the edge. Not looking forward to my yearly upper respiratory infection and all that comes with it. Not looking forward to leaving work in the darkest of sky. Not looking forward to it being a major process to motivate myself to do anything but lay on the couch. Not looking forward to our department's hectic season now until after the New Year.Thankfully, I have my adorable Mio (remember him? my shih-tzu?... remember me?!) who is always so happy to see me when I get home! What would I have done without him?
I hope you are all well. Maybe I'll get back on the blog track. We'll see. Take care :)

nothing
I really don't have much to say right now. Just thought to say hello. Hope everybody is doing well. I just picked up my Reach for the Stars quote book and found an appropriate quote. Well... it has the word "nothing" in it and I have nothing to share - appropriate enough for me!Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces towards change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is stregnth undefeatable ~ Helen Keller
My face is towards change alright, still don't have anything else to say though. Maybe you can tell me something new going on with you :)

reach for the stars
I received a little book of quotes called, "Reach for the Stars" compiled by Janet Terban Morris. From time to time, I will share quotes from the booklet. May it inspire and/or assist us. Best. You gain stregth, courage and confidence
by every experience in which
you really stop
to look fear in the face.

quote & comment
If civilization is to survive We must cultivate the science
Of human relationships-
Tha ability of all peoples,
Of all kinds,
To live together,
In the same world at peace.
~Franklin D. Roosevelt
At work we encourage diversity. This month we have all kind of activities going on in support of diversity. Once a week, quotes are distributed that are diversity related and I loved the one I received today and thought to share. If only the rest of the world would agree... maybe peace would then be possible. Live & let live.

wellness
I never realized how sick I was until I finally started feeling better recently. Wow! I actually CAN get out of bed in the morning and I feel like I have energy to get me through the day. I don't have my daily neck and shoulder pain. I don't feel so drained that all I think of is how I can't wait to get on my couch. I actually look forward to seeing people and doing things. I feel calmer and better able to deal with life. It's a very empowering feeling. I never agreed with those who say if you got your health you have everything... I always said that having money helped too. But I now see their point. I'm still in the same financial situation, but I feel better able to deal with it. Of course, this new healthy feeling came with taking a medication that was only temporary. So I don't know how long this new healthy feeling and new attitude will last. However, I soon will be switching my daily long-term medication that hopefully will be in my system in a more constant basis and I can hang onto this new healthy me. PLUS.... wondering what the beautiful picture of the pool has to do with all of this? Well... after thinking about swimming for the past YEAR or so to the point of giving me headaches.... I decided to actually go swimming. I've had access to an indoor pool since 2005 and never went. Correction... I took water aerobic classes for a little while (as well as other classes), but then stopped. Now I go for laps and find it to be pure relaxing joy. I hope I keep at it as my doctor said it's one of the best form of exercise that addresses my pain/stress/etc. issues as well as getting fit/losing weight (hopefully!). So I am very proud of myself for going, I'm glad I love it as much as I do and hope I stick with it.
This is perfect timing since at work we're promoting a new ongoing wellness program. My manager and I are heading this program and I always thought it's better to lead by example. In fact, I just came back from a seminar in the city where we were told that it's not enough to help those who are sick, but it is just as important to help those who are healthy, stay healthy.
So here's to feeling better & staying healthy!

september
Wow... it's September already. Hope you all had a great summer. Mine was ok. Without a couple of major changes, I'm pretty much still stuck. The way things are going, it doesn't look like these changes will be coming anytime fast. So I'll just hang in there the best I can. * I did hear that my services will be for hire again through the YMCA's Enrichment program this year... so I am looking forward to having some fun with the kids doing improv and other creative variations. * Thank you to those who stopped by and try to wake me up. I do appreciate it. Did you do anything exciting this summer?

too long
It's been too long, I know. Nobody may even be checking my blog anymore. But if anybody is still out there... This is what has been going on recently: desprately needed a new muffler, Mio needed emergency surgery, I needed an emergecy root canal, my mom's car got hit, my brother's health took a turn and he'll be on an experimental treatment soon.... that's about all I'll list for now. I'm sure you get the point. Sometimes, "when it rains, it pours" fits so well.Hope you all are doing well. I'll try to make my rounds to check-in on my usual suspects soon. Take care!
